About Alpacas of Norfolk

Alpacas of Norfolk was started by John and Sheila Curl in the year 2000 after seeing some Alpacas at a county show. We initially purchased four Alpacas but doubled our herd in 2002 when we purchased four pregnant females.

Since those early days, and at the time of writing we have built up a small herd of 25 Alpacas with twelve of the females pregnant and due to calve in 2006.

We shear our Alpacas once a year (usually in late May) and Sheila spins alot of the resulting fibre into yarn, to make a variety of items which are sold at local events and county fairs (please see our product pages for more information about those items).

In 2005 we joined forces with another breeder (Farrlacey Alpacas of Lincolnshire) to expand the Alpaca Fibre and Alpaca Wool Products business by forming The Alpaca Wool Company. We sell the bulk of our fibre through The Alpaca Wool Company.

Alpacas of Norfolk are also members of the British Camelids Society, which represents owners, breeders and enthusiasts of Alpacas, Llamas, Vicunas, Guacanos and Camels (collectively known as Camelids) in the UK.

To arrange a visit to our Alpaca ranch please send us your details via our contact page or call us on 01263 861541. For more information about Alpacas why not checkout our Alpaca FAQ's page.
